After the past year, the Government’s NHS pay offer is disgraceful and comes after a decade of NHS staff being underpaid.
If the Government pushes on with the pay offer, Nurses’ pay will be £2,500 less than in 2010 when adjusted for inflation, with falls of £3,300 for paramedics and £850 for porters.
It’s time for the Government to stop taking NHS workers for granted and provide them with a pay rise that recognises their value and importance. The NHS is the biggest employer in the UK and a decent pay rise would contribute to our economic recovery.
