“I am very sad to hear about the passing of Lord Bill McKenzie.
The Bill I knew was a dedicated public servant committed to celebrating diversity and improving people’s lives across Luton and the UK. We are all the better for knowing Bill and listening to his thoughtful, well-considered expert advice derived from decades of public service.
Bill was a Labour activist for over 50 years, and as a Luton Councillor for 22 years, including a term as Leader of the Council, his contribution to our town will never be forgotten. Bill was elevated to the House of Lords in 2004 and has served as a Minister in the Labour Government and later as a Shadow Minister in Opposition.
I want to send my deepest condolences to Di and their family members.”
