Finally, Boris Johnson MP has been pushed kicking and screaming to resign as Prime Minister. 

During his time in office, we have seen the repeated scandals and lies by the Conservative Party damage our institutions, democracy and global reputation. Boris Johnson has proved on multiple occasions that he was always unfit for this country’s highest office. 

The rot does run much deeper – the problem is not just Boris Johnson, it’s also the Conservative Party and its MPs. They are the architects of the devastating cost of living crisis, with everyone feeling worse off, but they have no plan to tackle it.  

We need to put an end to 12 years of economic failure, attacks on our public services and widening inequality. The people of Luton South and the United Kingdom deserve a government rooted in tackling head-on the social and economic challenges our communities face. It’s time for a fresh start with a Labour Government that has a vision for a brighter future.
